Is the self-hosted Community edition really free and unlimited?
Yes. The full OpsCat core is Apache-2.0 licensed. Run it on your own hardware and there are no user, retention, check or sensor limits, and no license key — you are bounded only by your VPS. The paid tiers exist for teams who would rather we run and scale it for them on OpsCat Cloud.
What's the difference between Community and OpsCat Cloud?
Same engine, different operator. Community is the source you deploy and maintain yourself. Cloud is the managed service — we handle upgrades, backups, TLS and the global sensor mesh, and add conveniences like Google SSO, hosted regions and support tiers. You can start on Cloud and move to self-host later, or vice versa; the data model is identical.
How does annual billing work?
Pay yearly and you get roughly two months free versus paying month to month. Pro is €290/year (about €24/mo) and Business is €990/year (about €82/mo). Toggle the switch above the plans to see annual pricing. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The Free plan needs no card at all, and the Pro trial starts without one. When you're ready to stay on a paid plan, checkout is handled securely through Stripe inside the app.
What counts as a "synthetic check" and a "sensor"?
A synthetic check is one monitored target-and-type pair — for example an HTTP check on your checkout endpoint, or an ICMP ping to a gateway. A sensor is a probe location that runs those checks; Cloud regions are managed for you, and remote sensors are your own servers running the agent in --probe mode.
Can I upgrade from Cloud to Enterprise on-prem?
Absolutely. Enterprise adds SAML/SCIM provisioning, a 99.9% SLA, an audit log, and hands-on support for on-prem or private-cloud deployments. Reach out and we'll scope it with you.
